BYD has introduced the electric crossover Seal U to the European market

Well, well, well, brace yourselves, automotive enthusiasts, because the Chinese carmaker has just unleashed its electric crossover, the BYD Seal U, onto the European battleground. This newcomer proudly joins the European lineup of BYD, standing alongside the likes of Han, Tang, Atto 3, and the whimsically named Dolphin.

Let’s jog our memory, shall we? The BYD Seal U is a crossover born on the BYD e-Platform 3.0. Measuring in at 4.79 meters, the Seal U boasts a trunk space of 570 liters, expandable to a whopping 1449 liters if you decide to fold the rear seats – practicality, anyone?

The BYD Seal U comes with two battery options – a 72 kWh or an 87 kWh, both featuring the fancy cell-to-body technology. This electric crossover flaunts a range of up to 420 km, or 500 km according to the WLTP cycle, depending on the battery size you opt for.

Now, entering the ring of competition, the Seal U is gearing up to take on the likes of the VW ID.4, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Skoda Enyaq. And here’s the kicker, folks – the starting price for BYD’s electric marvel in Europe kicks off at a cool 41,990 euros. But wait, there’s more! The revamped ID.4, unveiled in October, boasts a range of up to 550 km and starts at just a smidge lower, from 40,335 euros.
