Lamborghini is gearing up for a new hybrid Urus

Hold onto your seats, folks, because there’s a video making rounds on YouTube showcasing a rather peculiar Lamborghini prototype. Rumor has it, beneath this fantastical camouflage lies the electrified evolution of the brand’s best-seller – the Urus. The year 2023 marked a record-breaking sales performance for the Italian marque, with the Urus contributing a hefty 6087 units to the cause.

Later this year, brace yourselves for a plug-in hybrid iteration of the super-SUV, as hinted by the sharp-eyed creator of this video. While it’s not officially confirmed, eagle-eyed brand enthusiasts have sniffed out that the project is in its final stages.

According to some whispers, the new Urus PHEV is set to inherit an electrified version of the 4.0-liter V8 engine from the Volkswagen Group. In the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, this powerhouse, paired with an electric motor, churns out a whopping 739 horsepower and 949 Newton-meters of torque. Given the Urus’s status, we can only expect these numbers to reach even greater heights.

The official unveiling of the Lamborghini Urus PHEV is slated for the end of 2024. As for the traditional gasoline version with the V8 engine, well, that ship has sailed, my friends. According to the company, the entire batch has been sold out ahead of schedule. By the middle of the decade, Lamborghini aims to electrify its entire model lineup – a bold move for the raging bull.
